How Do Repair Approvals Work?

With The Hop Shop, no repair work begins until you explicitly approve it. After your technician diagnoses your vehicle, a detailed digital estimate is sent to your Hop Shop App. You review each line item, approve what you want done, and defer anything you're not ready for — all from your phone, at your own pace, without pressure.

The Repair Approval Process

1. DiagnosisYour technician arrives and diagnoses your vehicle on-site using professional equipment. They identify what needs to be repaired and why.

2. Digital Estimate DeliveredA detailed estimate is prepared and sent to your Hop Shop App. You receive a notification and can review it immediately or take your time.

3. Review Each Line ItemThe estimate lists every recommended repair individually — with a description, parts required, labor time, and cost for each item. Nothing is bundled or hidden.

4. Approve, Defer, or DeclineFor each line item, you choose to approve it now, defer it for a future appointment, or decline it entirely. You're never required to approve everything at once.

5. Work BeginsYour technician begins work only on the items you've approved. Deferred items are noted in your service record for future scheduling.

6. Completion & DocumentationCompleted repairs are documented with photos and logged in your Hop Shop App account. Your invoice reflects only the approved work.

Why This System Protects You

Traditional auto repair often puts customers in a position where they're approving repairs verbally over the phone without seeing anything in writing. The Hop Shop's digital approval system ensures you always have a written record of what was recommended, what you approved, and what it cost — before, during, and after every repair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I decline part of a repair estimate?Yes. You can approve individual items and decline or defer others. The Hop Shop never pressures you to approve repairs you're not ready for.

What if I approve a repair and then change my mind?Contact your technician immediately through The Hop Shop App. If work hasn't begun on that item, we can adjust the scope. Once work has started on a specific item, it may not be possible to stop mid-repair.

Are approved estimates binding?Yes. The price in your approved estimate is the price you pay. The Hop Shop does not add charges after approval without your explicit consent.

Are deferred repairs tracked in the app?Yes. Deferred repairs are noted in your service record so you can easily schedule them at a future appointment.
